[Lesson 18 - Voice Post]

Okay, NEWS FLASH. Yes, I'm upset about the mistletoe thing, as everyone should be, but it's not because of the kissing. I'm going to assume whoever did this is merely stupid and not actively malicious, because ha ha, harmless funny joke... anywhere but here.

Your cute little joke is DANGEROUS.

Thing one, it's FREAKING COLD here. Someone could very easily get caught outside unawares, maybe they left their PDA in their other coat pocket, and then they FREEZE TO DEATH before anyone finds them.

More importantly, thing two- we don't have cuffs anymore and NOT EVERYONE HERE IS NICE. As evidenced by the recent probable kidnappings I'm sure you all have noticed. I don't know about you, but I don't appreciate being held immobile waiting for one of two hundred strangers to find me, any one of which could be an AXE MURDERER.

...So thanks a lot pal, way to think things through. I hope you come to your senses before someone gets hurt.

People are going to freeze to death in two hours? That's how long it holds you for if you don't get kissed, you know. I spent two hours in the shower yesterday morning because of that.

[identity profile] lady-bounty.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 07:36 am (UTC)(link)
Well, hey, thanks for sharing with the class!

Still doesn't change the fact that some of the people in this place are dangerous.

[identity profile] dark-friendship.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
They'll be dangerous with or without the mistletoe. If it works like it did last time, any kiss, even one on the cheek, is all you need.

You could, of course, find someone that you can stand kissing and stick together until this stuff goes away. Probably shouldn't take too long.

[identity profile] lady-bounty.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but they're more dangerous if you can't run away. I'm not worried about the kissing, I'm worried about the fact that I know very few people here, I trust maybe three of them, and I'm not a mindreader so I can't tell if a stranger is going to try to kiss me, or try to rip my throat out with his teeth. Which has already happened to me in this place, so....

...Actually, though, traveling in pairs, that's not a bad idea. ...Hey! You get a gold star!

[identity profile] dark-friendship.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
My point was you could try asking someone for a quick kiss instead of standing there being terrified for two hours. You have to take chances sometimes. Sometimes that means trusting people. If you saw a furry creature with a horn walking by, would you ask him for help or just ignore him because you don't know him?

[identity profile] lady-bounty.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 08:58 am (UTC)(link)
Oh please, don't lecture me. I wasn't planning on standing around for two minutes, much less two hours. I was gonna call a friend but a strange man found me first. And yeah, he turned out to be decent, so I didn't have to put a hole in his chest. But just because I got lucky this time doesn't make the danger any less real. And you're naive if you think trusting anyone will get you far in this place.

[identity profile] dark-friendship.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
...

Right. I should be a paranoid jerk instead. No, thanks. I'll keep the family and friends I've made here instead.

You'd never survive the Digital World.

[identity profile] lady-bounty.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 09:07 am (UTC)(link)
And you'd never survive mine.

[identity profile] dark-friendship.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 09:08 am (UTC)(link)
Seven kids. The youngest of us was eight. The oldest was twelve. In a world where the majority of everything we saw wanted to kill us and/or eat us. We hardly could trust anyone, but we did.

And for the most part, we won. Because of that trust.

[identity profile] lady-bounty.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 09:20 am (UTC)(link)
...Well then you got lucky.

Nothing good ever happened when I trusted others.

[identity profile] dark-friendship.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 09:22 am (UTC)(link)
Everything good in my life has happened because I trusted someone else. I fell in love. Here, of all places. I found a family who accepts me as the person I am, while the one that I left in my world probably won't even recognize me when they see me again. I even found a son I never knew I had.

[identity profile] lady-bounty.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 09:24 am (UTC)(link)
...Dear God, you're a freaking Hallmark card.

[identity profile] dark-friendship.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 09:27 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry if your life sucks. But this is seriously not that bad to me. And I don't just mean the mistletoe or the psychos all around us.

[identity profile] lady-bounty.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
You don't know anything about my life.

If you're seriously happy to have been abducted from your home, imprisoned here with a bunch of psychos, drafted into a war against aliens that want to kill us all, enslaved by equally nasty aliens that don't care whether we're alive or dead or psychologically tortured... then fine. I'm getting out of here, and when the rest of us go back to our own dimensions, you can stay.

[identity profile] dark-friendship.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 09:38 am (UTC)(link)
You just told me that nothing good ever happened from you trusting others.

I went through that at eleven. I got over it.

[identity profile] lady-bounty.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 09:47 am (UTC)(link)
So I stopped trusting. And now I'm happy.

You think I'm impressed? Get over yourself.

[identity profile] dark-friendship.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 09:52 am (UTC)(link)
So am I.

No, I think I told you the truth. You don't have to believe it.

Your whole complaint is "someone could hurt someone else". How does that differ from every day around here? If someone seriously wants to hurt someone else, then they can find a way to do it whether or not they're trapped under mistletoe. People have been badly hurt even when we still had the cuffs.

[identity profile] lady-bounty.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 09:59 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad.

I believe you. I'm not impressed.

So you think it's okay to make it easier for the baddies to hurt people? ...Wow, and I thought I wasn't a nice person.

Now you're just arguing for the sake of arguing. Screw this. I'm done talking to you.
